We're the Potts family of Firestone, Colorado. Our barn is home to two big Clydesdale brothers, plus a crew of mares, dogs and chickens. Horses taught us to slow down, do things step by step, and do them right. That's how we bake, too.
Our horseshoe-and-cookie logo is a nod to the horses who started it all. Every cookie is mixed, baked and packed by hand in our kitchen.
The biggest horse on our farm: 19.2 hands, over 2,000 pounds and 10-inch hooves. He's a playful overgrown puppy who loves apples, shows off his liberty work, and leans on the farrier like he can't possibly stand one more minute. Horseflies bother him more than anyone on the farm. Read Book 1 of the Pulling Together series to find out his name!
Standing 18 hands tall, he's the big roan's brother and the boss of the herd, and he knows it. He likes things his way, expects the royal treatment, and loves being the center of attention, but he has no patience for drama. Even the farrier has to start with his back left foot, or he makes it difficult. Meet him in Book 3!
Our oldest and calmest Gypsy Vanner. She's kind and a bit of an introvert, but she's very vocal when she wants your attention for food, so you'll usually hear her before you see her. She'll walk right up to you hoping for a snack, because she's always hungry. She'd rather skip exercise but will do it if you ask nicely, and dinnertime with the blonde mare gets competitive. Her name is revealed in Book 5!
Our mini horse: just 7 hands tall and 130 pounds, with more attitude than the Clydesdales combined. She ran the big roan ragged and loved racing around the pasture with the blonde mare. This fall she and her sister left our barn together for a new home in Breckenridge, CO, where they're learning to drive carts, work as therapy horses and march in parades. We're so glad they went together, and we miss them every day. She's the small horse in Book 2!
Seven pounds of chiweenie with the biggest personality in the house. He acts tough outside until a horse comes close. He eats every meal on the couch, sleeps right up against his favorite person, loves ice cream, and refuses to go out in rain, cold or snow. He has about a hundred nicknames, and you'll learn his real name in Book 6!
